Having been surrounded by 2 prior generations of professional ballet dancers and teachers dancing was in Sarits blood and so naturally she continued the tradition as a professional dancer herself, she felt driven to dance and began doing so seriously at the age of 5.
At only 15 years old Sarit was accepted to the top high school for performing arts in Tel Aviv, Israel, Thelma Yellin. Sarit also received a highly coveted and prestigious scholarship to the Bat dor-Bat sheva School of Dance in Israel.
By the time she was 18, Sarit was dancing professionally with the famous Kol-Dmama Contemporary Dance Company performing leading rolls throughout Israel.
At 21 Sarit moved to NYC to further her dance career, where she joined the Alvin Ailey dance theater for the 1996 season at City Center NY. From there she continued her professional dance career working with choreographers Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson of Complexions Dance Company in New York and studied with many world renowned dancers on a full scholarship at the premier Dance Studio in New York City, Steps on Broadway.
She performed as a backup dancer with the group responsible for bringing the sounds of progressive pop-oriented flamenco to the world, the Gipsy Kings and later joined the singer Brook Forbes as a dancer and co- choreographer.
In another unexpected twist of fate Sarit was introduced to the competitive world of ballroom dancing when an established theatrical dancer was looking to partner with a ballerina. Together the couple began competing, quickly placing second in the Professional Theatrical Dance Division in the DanceSport United States Dance Championships, Americas most prestigious championship.
Mesmerized by the beauty of the international style Latin division that this experience exposed her to, Sarit focused on learning this new technique and was once again studying with the best in the world including Paul Killick, Hannah Karttunen, Louis Van Amstel and many more. She quickly began competing and placing in the finals of various Latin open professional and rising star competitions throughout the US.
While competing and performing in Latin dance competitions, Sarit found herself anxious to share her new found passion with even more people and began teaching both group and private lessons to children and adults of all levels at many of the best ballroom dance studios in NYC including; Paul Pellicoros DanceSport, Stepping Out Studios and Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatins Dance Times Square.
Today, thanks to her vast experience and years of training, professional dancing and teaching, Sarit has a thorough understanding of the body and movement and a unique and rare ability to break down and explain each step in such a way that students of all ages and skill levels can easily understand and enjoy!
